Everything you need to know about the Polymer note changeout.
What is demonetisation?
Demonetisation is the act of stripping the legal tender status of currency units and occurs whenever there is a change in national currency. It involves the withdrawal of the current form or forms of money from being circulated, and is usually replaced with new notes or coins.
In 2019 the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago announced the introduction of a new $100 bill as a legal tender from Dec 9, 2019. The new bill is based on a polymer substrate and has significantly enhanced security features.
