Desha joins us as facilitator for the upcoming episodes of our original web series, Scotia insights. She currently anchors the country’s number one newscast: the CCNTV6 News at 7pm and has been in the news and current affairs business since 2004. She began her career in newspaper, moved on to radio then into TV. Desha recently founded her own company Suite Salyut Ltd– a Professional Media Services business that specializes in the provision of on-air presenter and recorded voice-over talent for a range of platforms including:  News Broadcasts; Live Events; Documentaries; Audio Books. 

Mary brings 10 years of experience to her role and is skilled in the areas of sales analytics and identifying and understanding customer needs. Mary has an engaging leadership style and leads a team of over 40 retail professionals who are passionate about the on boarding and utilization of Scotia’s Digital Banking platforms, Premium Portfolio management, Customer Care and Experience. Her team is responsible for a 90% increase in enrolment for OnLine Banking in T&T. Presently, she is relooking the premium portfolio value prop and most recently has managed to positively move the needle to increase customer experience and sentiment by over 30%.

Mary attended West Virginia University, USA and holds an MBA and MSC in Finance. She also graduated Summa Cum Laude and holds a BSC in Mathematics from Coppin State University, Maryland USA.

Savon Persad currently holds the position of Vice President, Retail and Business Banking, Caribbean South and East, with responsibility for Retail Banking, Business Banking, Non-Branch Sales and Channels, Products, Customer Experience and Retail Asset Management.   He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of ScotiaLife Trinidad and Tobago Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bank. Since joining the Bank in 1994, Savon has excelled in managerial positions in several spheres of banking, including Corporate and Commercial Banking, Global Risk Management (Toronto, Canada), Branch banking,  Finance and Treasury, Trade Finance and Banking Operations.

Prior to joining Scotiabank, Savon spent nine years working in the finance and accounting industry, at PricewaterhouseCoopers and abroad at a New York based Investment Company.

He is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) of England. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a Distinction in Finance and a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours in Economics from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus.

Rob is a cyber security professional with over 20 years of experience protecting financial institutions from a myriad of information security risks. He serves on a variety of customer advisory boards for leading cyber security companies and speaks at various conferences on Cyber Security, AI and Machine Learning. Rob has a passion for building strong teams and bringing new, innovative technologies to combat the growing complexities of cyber threats. Prior to Scotiabank, Rob has worked in the Toronto Stock Exchange, Bank of Montreal and Bird on a Wire.
